Opening Scripture

Hebrews 13:8   Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

In the beginning, God created… the universe, humans.
The twist in the story… humans blew it.
There was darkness… Jesus came.

Lift up your eyes and look at the God of history.
One day we will have an eternal future.

Pastor James:

The challenge is that we do not live in the future. We live in a present world that is constantly bombarding us with opportunities to worry and to be concerned about everything from jobs to kids to family and relationships.

Scripture gives us insight to what our response should be:

Philippians 4:6  Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

It’s easy to look at Scripture and list the things He HAS done, but to be anxious for nothing in our present circumstances is difficult.

His promise is that He has what we need to overcome, so why is it that the first thing we do is go out and search for His gifts?

Why do we feel we must find His promises and His provision when He says He already has what we need?

His one desire is that we come to Him with our needs and ask.

Matthew 6:33  But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

The principle is simple, Seek Me First and I will supply everything you need for the struggle.

The Father is desperately wanting a relationship with us and to be our sole provider for all of the needs and concerns of life.

His desire was never that we should have to struggle through things alone, that we should have to figure out His intentions on our own.

James 4:2  You have not because you do not ask.

It seems too simple but that’s the beauty of the gospel; it was never meant to be difficult.

God gives us all that we might need and His simple request is that we would ask, and with our asking comes one of the most beautiful and comforting Scriptures in His Word.

Luke 11:13   …how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?

All power, all authority, all truth, simply because we were willing to ask.

The solution to our everyday is to take our needs to the Father and ask, then trust Him to meet us where we are at.
