This past Sunday we began the new topic of teaching on prayer. In addition, we are starting our 30 days of prayer for our nation. Watch your email and FaceBook for the daily prayers that we want to lift before the Lord together between 6-8am each day.

Opening Scripture

Read 2 Corinthians 11:3 and Ephesians 6:11-12
One great descriptor of our common enemy its the word “deceiver.”

Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.”
There was a marked change in the position and authority of satan.

Revelation 9:1 Then the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star from heaven which had fallen to the earth; and the key of the bottomless pit was given to him.
From that day forward till the final trump, authority was stripped from satan. But his
nature lived on.

Genesis 3:4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die!”
The common denominator is the word “deceiver.” The deceiver is at work in this world orchestrating evil.

Read Revelation 12:7-9

It is no surprise these days are unprecedented!

It is the intent of the enemy for us to miss the appointment, the calling, your purpose, and your mission.

What is deception?
– Deception is truth fixed with a little bit of lie.
– It causes you to drift from the mark.
– It is what separates you from those you love, from Jesus.

Prayer is the ultimate weapon given to the church, and yet it is teated by most as a magic wand or get-out-of-jail card.

The deception is that your prayers really don’t matter.

We can fight this deception by understanding just what happens when we pray.

Psalm 141:1-2   O Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me!
Give ear to my voice when I call to You!
                           May my prayer be counted as incense before You;
The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.

Incense in the Scripture is always associated with prayer.

Properties of incense:
– it is smoke that rises up
– it must be burned and consumed to be of any use

Read Revelations 8:3-4

Our prayers rise up as sweet incense before the Lord.

What happens when we pray?

Read Revelation 8:5

Those prayers, that fire is “thrown to the earth” to:
– awaken this world to the works of God
– to break up the fallow ground with the demonstration of grace that revival brings

Luke 12:49 I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!

There has never been a more needed time for the fire of God to fall in America.

So, let the temple be filled with your prayers!

We are beginning 30 Days of Prayer. Join us each morning between 6-8am and pray the portion of Janice Flower’s prayer that we post to email and FaceBook. Share it with your friends.

And our prayers will assure that the judgment ushers in revival!

Discussion Questions:

– What lies has the enemy told you about prayer?
– What keeps you from praying?
– What specific things should we be praying over our nation today?
– Have you signed up to follow ?
